On Wednesday, The Technology Review, published by MIT, added new language to Righthaven's "litigious little jihad" by stating the painfully obvious:
What's especially intriguing about Righthaven's new model is that it is uniquely Google-enabled. The company basically waits for a piece of content to go viral, then buys the rights to that content from the original owner and, equipped with nothing more than a Google search, identifies and then sues whoever copied a given image or piece of content.Anyone want to know who else will get sued for the Denver Post's TSA pat down photo? Do a Google Image Search. Gibson's consistent claim that Righthaven is a "technology company" is more aptly described as a seven-year old -- not even an adolescent -- performing a simple Google Search.
