...Haters of both Righthaven and its founder, Mr. Gibson, say the firm is attacking people who should be given an education in copyright laws, not forced to defend themselves against expensive lawsuits.Read: Article in full
“These are people who feel like they’re doing the online equivalent of cutting a newspaper out and sending a copy to their friends,” said Randazza, the California attorney representing “Righthaven victims.”
Randazza agreed that Drudge Report is a different beast, but pointed out that the Drudge Report suit is the first lawsuit brought by Righthaven against a large, truly profitable entity...
A website that lists the victims of Righthaven LLC 'shakedown' lawsuits that are causing irreparable harm to bloggers and advocacy websites.
Righthaven LLC -- a bottom feeding legal outfit -- has teamed up with the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Denver Post to sue mom and pop websites, advocacy and public interest groups and forum board operators for copyright infringement. The strategy of Righthaven is to sue thousands of these website owners, who are primarily unfunded and will be forced to settle out of court.
To date Righthaven has been ordered to pay $323,138 in legal fees and sanctions. |

Keep up the good work. Righthaven is about as despicable as it gets and needs to watched and challenged.
ReplyDeleteRighthaven is suing Matt Drudge for infringement of a copyright they say they own from a Denver Post photo. However, the Photo on Denver Posts website lists the owners as the Denver Post with no mention of Righthaven. The plaintiff in the complaint against Matt Drudge is Righthaven LLC, not The Denver Post. If the Denver Post owns the copyright as they claim on their site then Righthaven lacks standing to be the plaintiff in the case or the Denver Post is misrepresenting who owns the copyright on their own site.
ReplyDeleteKen, it's difficult to know where to start, but your argument has issues. There have been rulings. See:
